That's an absolute beauty. You know I love those florins! I've had to cut back on my addiction in the last months due to financial constraints, but I hope to get one soon. I did have bids on a few recently which i didn't win.

(ps. edited your title for you, from 'fist coin of 2017 to 'first coin')
I got this yesterday ...

'Ireland Dublin Parker's Halfpenny Token 1795 D&H 352C'

haha, I got it at a much lower price than I was expecting to pay, so that was a great bonus even if it isn't a super high grade, but I can live with a solid EF any day.

Thanks oggy, was early in the AM when I posted. ``-

My first purchase of 2017 was a step towards my goal of completing pre-1945 Vatican coins

I told myself to never start with this series because when I start I have to finish a set ... so one down 46 to go.
But it was at a good price and I probably was still a bit drunk from the new years party x.

What will happen if I take it with me to Japan someday and I get in a inspection at the airport? :°
I just bought an Australian George V florin on eBay in F or VG for just under melt price (it's hard to resist sometimes), so that's my actual first purchase of the year.

But I am working through approximately 850 coins that I sifted out of my local coin shop's bulk bins last week, almost all pre-1950. I've sorted through less than 100 so far and have already catalogued about 40% of my purchase price back in "keepers", so I think I made a good deal there. If nothing else, it will keep me occupied for quite a while!
I bought this very rare trial strike:

Will post the photos later.

What? this has to be the cheapest trial strike I ever saw.

And I see that you can find it even cheaper.
You are talking about the silver trial strike which is cheap and there were 24,000 minted (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces99856.html), while I possess the trial strike made of nickel (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces99857.html), only 500 minted. Please be more careful :)

Great Mongols. Toregene Khatun. Queen and regent ( 1241-1246) . hallf dirhem . Motif: archer horserider shooting back. Probably not unique, but still RRR I guess. At least I know just one piece, which was stolen by DHL Post last year. ( Zeno #36838 )
