I have a collection of over 500 coins.  mostly world wide ones, but a nice little collection from the UK which i am in the process of uploading, u can check out what is there from my profile.  It is going to take me a good while yet to get the rest up.  But thats all the Pre decimal ones uploaded. still some decimal one to get on but thats not really of a concern.  If anyone wants to talk more then please can u DM me, i have no idea of the grading scales. but most are in good condition.  I inherrited the collection a few weeks ago, and like i say i dont know how to grade them, so just put them all as fine or whatever that means, but some are in brilliant condition, ideally looking for a UK person who would come and check out the collection.  I am very fair and not greedy so make me a decent offer and see from there. Also i have looked into some of the older pre dec coins and know a little bit so i wil know if anyone wants to rip me off.

Thanks and hope to get rid soon. haha
Yes, there are a few nice coins, the Victorian silver for example, but 97% of the coins seem to be what one finds in standard wholesale lots. Your problem may be getting someone to take the whole lot off your hands. Ignoring the few nice coins, the others retail for around 3p each - some are worth more and some less, but that's how wholesale works out (and that's price to the end consumer, a dealer would go to an auction and pay less than half that amount). You could try to sell them individually, or you can bite the bullet and take a sum for the job lot.

What you think they are worth, and what someone else thinks they are worth will vary. You could put the lot on eBay, But I guess they weigh around 2kg total? and the cost of postage would be significant. Wigan is a long way from Southampton, so I am not in the market for them, and as such I excuse myself from telling you what I should be prepared to pay for the lot.

Good luck with them

I think Matt is pretty close to the mark, as usual. I have been looking at bulk lots on eBay recently and one listing I saw recently was for 400 coins, various countries, weighing in at 1.8kg. So 500 coins would probably come in at around 2kg or just over. You would probably be better off picking out the better grade, less common examples and sell them individually along with the silver. Unfortunately, despite all the hype about silver being a hot commodity at the moment, most silver coins I've seen on eBay recently aren't selling for much better than spot price (scrap value). On the bulk lots I have been watching, they are generally going for about £10 per kilo, including postage. Sorry if it's not the windfall you were hoping for  :(

As you have looked up what you believe to be the value of them, why not offer them here at a price you would be prepared to accept. That would stop any of us from embarrassing ouselves by offering a price you considered to be insulting. I should certainly be intrested in buying some of them, but I am scared of insulting you with what you may consider a rip off price. If however, you say what you want for them, then people can contact you if they are interested.

Hi Matt

I dont know how to grade them though thats the problem and would be lying if i did grade them so i cant put a vallue up.  If you state which ones u r interested in then icould get pictures and email them to you if i can get hold of a camera from somewhere. Then you will be in more of a position to say so

Also dont be scared of insulting me as they wer inherrited so i amnot greedy, just want a fair offer and then no probs.
