Was determined to get the first post in as I got nothing last month to show off as was away!
Anyway, some nice updates
Firstly ancient greek coinage:
3 Different periods.
Athens owl Tetradrachm, say no more. 454-415BC.
Alexander III AR Tetradrachm. Kition Mint, Cyprus, 325-320 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress / BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔΡOY, Zeus seated left, holding eagle on extended arm, legs uncrossed, KT monogram in left field. Muller 129, Price 3107
Tetradrachm (Berytos mint) - Kingdom of Syria, Alexander I Balas (148-147bc) Year 166 of the Seleucid kingdom if I've read the date correctly.
Very nice halflings, I tend to stay away from ancients because there are so many of them and I don't really know enough about them to judge value and authenticity.
I doubt I'll be joining in this thread because I'm concentrating on selling this month, hopefully in October I'll be doing some more buying (especially since it's my birthday next month too.

Thanks. Also hit 100 coins on my collection! Yea, I tend to buy ancients at 'actual' auctions as I don't trust myself enough to gauge authenticity on them.
We should do a numista round robin thing for active forum people so everybody gets an appropriate coin for their birthday!
There was a birthday thread at one stage, not for gifts but so people could wish other members many happy returns, it slipped out of the front page and therefore out of consciousness
1st coin is a 1889 U.S. Liberty Nickel.
2nd is Frankfurt 1 Kruezer, "City View", 1839 I believe.
3rd is a Italian Somaliland, 1 Rupia.
4th is Ottoman Empire 5 Kurus, 1808.
And 5th is a Hungary 1848 20 Krajczar
Quote: "Myeackle"Oggy,
Those are really nice I know I don't have anything your really interested on my swaplist but would you consider selling one possibly?
Matt
'Possibly' - I'll admit I was thinking of sending you a spare of one of my Greenland ones if I manage to break even and still have a spare! The Faroese, you're unlikely to get a free one, but I might consider selling one if nobody wants the set of 3. They aren't super expensive.
CANADA: 2000 $15, Lunar Series: Year of the Dragon .925 silver, .999 gold plated. Can't find a 1976 lunar coin from my birth year........ but this one is more than adequate to fill the void.
1805 Half Penny
2007 VIRGIN ISLAND SILVER $10 GREAT MONARCHS OF BRITAIN ELIZABETH I
1915 2 Lire Italy. My favourite coin design, stunning detail and relief.
4 £1 coins from 1983, first year of minting. Mainly bought it for the Isle of Man £1 on far right.

Here is a new country I got in the mail this weekend from Neil which has helped me get closer to the 300 Club. I only have 7 more countries to go till I hit 300 so I hopefully will have more soon.
I don't own them yet but I can add a teasing for upcoming additions... 3 new countries:
British Honduras: 25 cents 1919
Guadeloupe: 50 centimes 1903 & 1 franc 1921
Hispania: Arse quadrans and Carthago Nova chalkous

I resorted to eBay to complete my 2016 goal of a complete type collection of non-silver 20th century British predecimal coins. I was down to a few elusive coins that were essentially single year issues. Here are the sellers' pictures; the coins are enroute to me now.
This collection of pennies I bought for $4 (including shipping) just for the 1949 penny (which generally lists for even higher as a single coin):
A 1952 threepence for $4:
And I took pnightingale's advice and just bought a sealed 1953 mint set in order to acquire a 1953 penny, threepence, and half crown (and the rest of the uncirculated coins will be upgrades for me anyway):
Pleased to have completed my goal! I guess the next goal will be to finish the 20th century silver types. That will be a bit more expensive...

Thanks we don't. The 1805 1/5 rupee of different design exists though so I will have too add it :)
EDIT: This is in the catalogue just not listed as malabar coast. :)
I bought this Jamaica farthing last month but the seller forgot too send it before he went on holiday. Which since I've dealt with him numerous times in the past it wasn't a problem for me. Today it arrived with 2 gifts from
him which coincidentally I needed.
I get many US national parks and territories quarters, few Costa Rica coins (first coins from this country), few Mexican pesos and many Poland commemoratives. It was a good month.
I cannot say why I am drawn to this piece, Historic and BU Penny of many type possibilities. Impulse buy on eBay, the kind that can be gold mines or train wrecks..... jury is still out on this one.
I haven't decided to see if I can open it up to see what penny it is.... such a dilemma!
PS : New catalogue entry?

Really interesting and cool! I wouldn't open that up; probably has value other than numismatic.
The original transatlantic telegraph cable was laid in 1858, so presumably this was made for the 50th anniversary in 1908. So if that's true, it rules out at least a couple possible years for the date of the coin!
(That cable only lasted three weeks before it failed, but it did represent a historic advance in communications.)
A 1/8 dinar of al-Mustansir of the Fatimid Caliphate, I could only find one other example of this type that has been sold by Steve Album and they only noted one other example in another catalog.
A fractional dinar of an uncertain dynasty in Iberia, citing Khalid and theoretical Umayyad caliph 'Abd Allah. Struck in Al-Andalus.
A dinar of the Seljuks in Western Iran under Mas'ud.
Received yesterday.
#277: British Honduras 25 cents 1919

1963 Yemen - Arab Rep. 1/2 Buqshah (junk bin at the antique market)
1964 South Arabia 1 Fils
1938 Guyana 4 Pence (and with this picture, it is time for a real camera, looks 10X better in hand as the King has hair )
1887 Congo Free State 5 Centimes
1984 St. Helena & Ascension 1 Penny
1942 H East Africa 1 Shilling
161 countries and counting .

Not exactly new additions, but I did get them within the past month and I think it's overdue that I make a post here, so here is some of what I've picked up this September!
(Interesting note for this month; I noticed I bought more coins outside of my usual UK and Commonwealth realm than I ever have.)
Some Swedish commemorative silver 2 Kronor:
A little Nurnberg 'City View' Kreuzer (nice substitute for the larger thaler):
My first gold purchase in a while, a 1327/4 (1912) Ottoman Empire-Turkey 100 Kurush:
And what was one of only three UK and Commonwealth coins I picked up this month, an awesome 1953 Rhodesia Centennial Crown still in its original case! (Big thanks to Mark240590!):
This past weekend I attended the Las Vegas Coin Show.
I managed to add 12 countries to my collection, taking me to 282. That in itself made it a very successful day.
The countries added are:
Malay peninsula 1832 1 Keping
Spitsbergen 1993 10, 50 & 100 Roubles
Ruanda-Urundi 1954 50 Centimes
Demerara & Essequibo 1813 1 Stiver
North Borneo 1887 1 Cent
French Equatorial Africa 1948 1 Franc
Chad 1972 100 Franc
Congo - Republic 1975 100 Francs
French Guiana 1789 2 Sous
Liege 1641 1 Liard
Lundy 1929 1 Puffin
Ionian Islands 1834 1 Lepton
I also managed to get my first Leper Colony coin!
Colombia Leprosarium 1921 2 Cent
In addition, I added 34 coins to my collection of Netherlands coins (which is my main interest for collection at the moment).
In total I managed 92 coins of which 3 were doubles (Even with my spreadsheet I still bought doubles!), 2 were upgrades and 1 is a for a fellow member here on Numista.
I have not uploaded all the images yet. Hopefully I will get time to scan them soon.
Mine arrived a few days ago and are from Hispania, to conclude this month:
Quadrans from Arse/Sagunto
1/4 Chalkos from Carthago Nova
