Belize is still using this one on their 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent and 25 cent coins. Odd thing is their 1 dollar coin uses a newer portrait. But started in the 1990's
That is a 2000 10 cent coin. Are there any other countries out there?

Seriously though that's a very good question, I'd love to hear the real answer.
My best guess is that they don't want to engrave new plates for some reason, or maybe there's some tradition involved.
This change of portrait sometimes drives me nuts as a picky type collector. At least Belize kept it easy for me. Still have some gaps to fill in Bermuda or the Caymans because of the decennial portrait changes.
Just maybe because those types were initially used by a colony. That particular bust was only colonial I think. But the the dollar type isnt a colonial issue. Maybe they wanted a continuity of coin design?

I don't know if we can call them "current coins" but British Maundy coinage still uses Elizabeth II 1st portrait.
