Desperadoes ( Tequila flavoured)

what at are your favourites ?
I live in Portland Oregon, which has over 80 breweries, so beer is my beverage. Most of the pubs I go to have 30-50 serious beers on tap. Portland is also a very food focused city, so good food is available at most pubs.
We also have a great mass trans system, so no need to drive yourself homeB.(;0:snif:0:)

If you live in my island, Lesvos , you do not have a choice but to drink "ouzo".
Opa... ..hic.....
I used to Brew my own beer few years ago... I had a production rate of about 40 liters per week.. lot of fun!

I prefer Pilsner's and Lager's than Ale or Stouts...

Wine is on my top list along with Rum... coming from Venezuela Rum is in our top preference above any other liquor...

Gin and Tonic I think is one of my preferred social drink while traveling. but Rum and Coke its also a good option if they know how to make it.

I feel thirsty now :)

Beer
Stella, Pironi. Guinness. They are pretty much the same worldwide. Apart from these I can tune my tastes to my surroundings - Thwaites or Hydes in the Pennines, Mithos in Greece..... cheap and cheerful that's me.

Wine
Red and dry. Cheap stuff from the cask is just fine. Unfortunately for my wine drinking ambitions I now live in America where 90% of the people think wine should be made from blackberries. It's just not a big thing here and while you can find imports they are far more expensive than the EU.

Spirits
Never met one I didn't like. Single grain malt is preferred but not essential.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
spirits:
Glenfiddich

Beers:
Pisner: Molson XXX
Brown: Newcastle, Bass
Dark: St Pauli Girl Special Dark, Spaten Dark, Dixie Blackened Voodoo
Stout: Young's Oatmeal Stout, Sierra Nevada Stout
Nice topic Mark, I like your style (8

A little like Phil, I am generally not fussy when it comes to falling down water but here's a few of my favourites:

Lager: Stella (wife-beater); Peroni

Ale: Way too many to mention as this is my preference but anything from the Adnams brewery is right up near the top of the list (do like a pint of Broadside), closely followed by Greene King (could drink IPA all night but give me a few Abbot and I'll be on my back in no time!)

Stout: No, not really my thing, thank you

Wine: Oh, go on then, just leave the bottle! Again like Phil, anything red, do like a nice Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon

Spirits: Will usually move on to Gin & Tonic when I've had my fill of beer, also developed a liking for Tequila when I lived in Southern California (Cuervo Gold please!) Just don't give me any Scotch as that is likely to make me hurl (ever since my brother made me drink it when we were kids!)

Anything I've missed, well then I'd probably drink that too (just realised this makes me sound like a complete lush - oh, well)

Edit: I almost forgot, some former work mates introduced me to Polish Vodka and that is very fine indeed!
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Like muygrandeoso, I live in a city with a burgeoning craft beer industry (though not nearly as extensive as Portland's), so I like to drink local brews and support my neighbors. One of my friends is a part owner of a "nanobrewery" here, so I often drink their beer at pubs or pick up a growler at the farmers' market once in a while.

I was in Peru last week and discovered pisco sours, so I bought a bottle of pisco (a type of brandy) at the airport duty-free shop and now I need to track down the rest of the ingredients and a shaker.
Nice thread :P

As beers, I also like Cubanisto, but also some various varieties of beers, like Belgian, German, Luxembourgish beers... Notable one I tested in its brewing hometown: Pardubicky Porter, from Pardubice.

Few beer brand from Romania: Ursus, Timișoreana, Ciucaș. But I can't Tell much about flavor because I don't drink.
Back in Finland I mostly drank Karhu or Karjala, but in the Netherlands beers are way tastier. Even a main stream Heineken is so much better. I really love German lagers. Radeberger is my favourite. Also German Weizen is great, for example König Ludwig.

Wine I don't care too much for. That's for women and flashy sales people. Geeks like me drink old gin. Dutch Korenwijn is wonderful.

But in reality my drinking days are over. With 3 young kids I usually wake up hung over without a sip, so I prefer to do some damage control. Btw, I lost a good friend due to booze so I am much more careful these days compared to when I was at uni.

From the song 'Rolling' by Randy Newman:

I never drink in the afternoon
I never drink alone
But I sure like a drink or two
When I get home

Phil, that Good Old Boys album must be something for you, as all the songs are about the South.
I don't drink beer or much wine, although this year I'm having a go at making my own so I have 5 liters of redcurrant wine and 5 liters of blackcurrant wine which will be ready in about 3 weeks time (it's been on the go for almost 6 months now) In terms of spirits, my favourite at the moment is Canadian Club spiced whiskey, the spice is good.
Beer & Ale : Newcastle, Heineken Bruin (I wish they would start exporting it)
Wine : Any red, but I do prefer a Pinotage or Shiraz
Spirits : Coconut Rum (from Aruba), Sambuca, Ouzo, Southern Comfort

I recently tried Coffee Tequila from one of the Mexican islands. (Made by Real Marinero) It is the best coffee flavored drink I have ever tried.
I consider myself to be a beer lover. I enjoy lagers and my favorite are Czech (I lived in Czech Republic for a year and I never had anything but awesome beer) and German beers. In last few years I am being more open toward American ale beers but I still can't say I love IPAs. Also I don't prefer beers stronger than 5%.
There is an interesting beer app called UNTAPPD and it is something like a beer diary where you write comments about different beers you've tried. I use it because I try to drink as many different beers as possible and I always take a photo of my beer before I drink it and I upload pics on untappd.

wine... I like white wine with food. Also if I plan to drink a lot, I would rather get drunk of white wine than of red wine. Red wine... I really have to be in a mood for it.

Spirits... I know I can't stand vodka. When I was a teenager I loved getting waisted of tequila. Tequila makes me happy. Anything else is good.

in Serbia we have a drink called Rakija and it is made of fruit. The most popular kind is made of plums and the second most popular is made ofgrapes but it really can be made of anything. My personal favorite is made of pears. In villages every household makes its own and everyone claims that their Rakija is the best. Here in USA people that tried it say that tastes like moonshine but I think it tastes much better. I honestly love it.

Only the strong! "SamoGonka" - old Russian whiskey:

If I could afford it I would drink Guinness all the time.

On occasion, a nice dry gin martini.

"Shazam Method" for dry martini:
1. 2 fingers of Tanqueray
2. Place Vermouth beside gin
3. Yell "Shazam"

I heard there was one barman who made a gin martini by having a glass of pure gin then whispering the word "Vermouth" over the class while holding some vermouth in his mouth.
I've missed out cider !

Recently and and especially in the summer I like a nice flavoured cider, something like Koppaberg, Rekorderlig or Old Mout, I'm not sure if that's something that you lot drink Neil ? It's billed from NZ ! Stella Artois Cidre is absolutely a treat too.

ive progressed from the white lightening 3ltr bottle swigger of my youth !

me too, me and my friends brewed every week, l gave away so much beer back then. After my third kid l just didnt have time, now we only brew sometimes. Also large batches of cider. Last year we prossesed 900 pounds of apples and made 60 gallons of cider during apple season.
I like ALL beer and wine.

Just like Portland Org. there are brewrys poping up everywhere. Its a lot of fun trying all the new stuff.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
Tonight's tipple.. since its been mentioned and I've not had any for a while with some
nice investigation of my new West Indian stuff ;)

Ha, I've never drank the Old Mout cider but the ads for it are classic

Great topic!
Guinness, Beck,Samuel Adams,Newcastle brown.
Ciders!!
Jim Beam Black label bourbon,Gentlemen Jack
Reds from Argentina, Whites from Italy ( it depends of food on the table)
I can drink all of them alone. Vodka needs a couple friends to talk during the process

I'm so suprised the dog (brown ale) does so well across the world. I thought it was more an English and even more so local drink. Such a shame it's no longer brewed in Newcastle anymore !

Stouts, Porters, and Brown Ales are what I drink most of the time, IPAs on occasion.

There's been a lot of micro-breweries opening up recently. A lad who I "served my time with" now owns one. I've not tried any yet but I need to get over some time :)

Yep! I always support local breweries. It is good for the local economy, good for the environment, and
guarantees a steady supply of good beer.

Good old BoilerMaker - shot glass of whiskey dropped into a mug of draft beer. Cheers

It's about local beers--I do recommend beers from Two brothers brewery (Warrenville IL) to everybody who can find them.As far as I know, they're distributing in Illinois and Wisconsin only
I haven't had a drink for 4 years...not allowed. :(

Funny to see how does this topic is going as my own contribution was also about a local Czech beer...

I don't actually like the taste of just about any beer, and most wines.
Only ever tasted two beers that I liked; one was Desperados, a tequila-flavored beer drink, and the other was a Lviv speciality I never remembered the name of (would've found out if I ever got back to Lviv... we actually planned that, even had hotel reservations, for a few days in April 2014, and then the riots blew up, and we decided not to go anywhere near the Ukraine until it all calms down, and it's not going to anytime soon).
Sadly can't recall which wines I liked either (but there were more than two).
My mom often told me that she also didn't like the taste of beer until she turned 25, and then suddenly found out it's actually quite tasty. I'm not turning 25 until next year, so it's still a possibility.

Not really a fan of strong alcohol, because I don't want to get drunk. But, in small doses, I really liked both Bailey's Irish Creme and glintwein (they were separate incidents).

And I apparently like cider (especially pear cider).
Your tastebuds do change from when you're younger. Give most kids a sip of coffee and they will screw up their faces in disgust, but adults suck It down by the bucketful.

I still abstain from coffee !

I only drink it if I'm exceptionally tired ha.
i did used to hate beers until I was about 17 though.

I really don't like the taste of black coffee (lots of sugar can make it palatable, but it's still not pleasant), but with a bit of milk it becomes very tasty (even without sugar).
My mom really likes black coffee (either with or without sugar), so it's possible that it's an actual difference between us, in which case it can just as easily come up with beer. I'll have to ask her when she started liking black coffee (then again, it wasn't really available much until she was 20-ish anyway).

I'll also have to try and offer some coffee to my younger brother (10 years old) when he returns from his camp (in about three weeks) - I don't think I ever asked if he finds it tasty.
Hmmm....

Beers/Cider: Mostly Stouts and Ales. I do like to try new stuff, plus my buddy runs a brewery(Swamp Cabbage) here in Columbia, SC, so he has me try new stuff alot. If I am out at a club watching live music or something, I usually have PBR if the sell it. I make my own "Hard Cider"; but will occasionally have a Strongbow while out!!!

Wine:I tend to like German wines mostly; but do like reds(Cab Sav or Merlot). My father-in-law's homemade plum wine is hard to beat though.

Spirits: I tend to like(sometimes too much) whisky/bourbon. Single Malt Scotch(Speyburn 10yr is a favourite), along with Irish(Power's or Bushmill's). Wild Turkey 101 is my go to bourbon, that or Evan Williams. I do like Brandy(Paul Masson Grande Amber VS), but not much white liquor, except moonshine. Junior Johnson's Midnight Moon is the best "storebought" brand, but NOTHING beats homemade when it comes to "corn likker", Lol!!!
