This website was made for the sole purpose of Numismatics... For people to learn about coins, for people to talk about coins, for people to collect coins.
It has gone far beyond that.
And from the short amount of times I've used the forums, I have seen lots of drama from the same people... I'm not going to name them, as you can likely figure out who it is.
But my plea, is stop the drama, the boastfulness, the spitefulness, the show boating, the prodding at people, the near enough bullying.
I can tell that lots of this website is used by adults, and I'm not going to be the first one to say, many people don't act like it. But that's life, isn't it?
Your answer to that is no.
Adults (Grown Ups) Adults aren't supposed to act like children, I'm young, but I probably act more mature and calm and just generally nicer than other, adult members.
And SURE Xavier isn't here, and I don't agree with the fact he rarely is, but he has a personal life, a job, a family, he can't spend all his time on a website, can he? A website that wouldn't exist without him, I must add, But the team he has recruited, like KennyG, chomp-master, Jarcek and Bam777 and much more, have enhanced this site and done a great job at it! Without them this website would be worse off than you could dream... people would be swindled constantly and there would be even more drama.
In short, the request is in the title... Stop The Drama
The team members that I have praised, you can help this drama, I can assure you this won't take much...
Thanks for reading.

I totally agree with both of you, and my sincere apologies if I have hurt your sensitivity.
I also find it sad and unfortunate that somebody has to choose this hysteric "deviant child" behaviour (copyright: Eric Berne) to reach the attention of Xavier. I am not at all proud of it, but somebody has to do it. It is sad, but you see it is working, Xavier started to add new referees: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic50478.html#dernier
I am not claiming that I have achieved it, but my strong negative feedback, which you call drama has certainly contributed.
end of drama.
Cheers,
Imre
You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
Taken in isolation the recent coming out of the closet events may have seemed ill timed and inappropriate but of course it didn't all just happen yesterday. Take your lead from Xavier who responded in a calm and polite manner. There's far more to this than a single forum post.
With hindsight it would have been better to have contained everything in the single topic created by Jarceck instead of the Clausewitzean shift into multiple posts which have each got to be monitored...... for drama.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Good post Slyrex! What happened to camel-case though?
I personally think that Numista is somewhat at a crossroad. Some people, Xavier included, still consider Numista as a website while it long ago became a community. And it is a big difference, a totally different level. People who realize that it is a community would like things happen accordingly. Again, this is my personal opinion and I was proven wrong before. On a very few occasions though.

And For What Reason Do You Think Im Talking About You... On that Topic I Found Your Input Very Useful
More People Need To Think Like That And State The Truth, Like I have Done.
I try to be very careful when I post on forums these days; i've been part of others before, and I surprise myself on how I acted sometimes and how I got dragged and then continued very trivial debates bordering on flame wars.
It strikes me though what's happening on numista mirrors a little bit of what's happening in the EU. One group of people who favour more integration while another that has drawn a line in the sand and said this is adequate :-)... its fascinating!
However, I've found this site absolutely wonderful as it is and in my own view, its better to keep the status quo in terms of functionality than go deeper into something that then becomes more onerous to handle. As I understand, all efforts put into maintaining this website is voluntary and gratis; I would be very hesitant to demand anything or to criticize people who are doing so much good work of their own accord. I certainly wouldn't! I've seen a couple of topics where the language was deeply negative and even though I don't know the people who it was directed against, it made my heart sink in anycase that for such a wonderful hobby and this website as an enabler, we are never happy enough.
See for me the way to stop the drama isnt posts. It is the opposite if we all ignored dramatic posts and either continued in the vein of the post or ignored posts started purely for drama. If no one responds drama gets bored and goes away.
You know I agree with cncote10. Let look at this on a sand box level. If some one is throwing sand why would you gave them more sand to throw . The ideal of the post is good. But it has turn into what it is complaining about. The post is making more drama. Or the post is adding more sand in the sand box.
One thing that comes to mind is We humans fought a war to end all wars. That worked well.
I am trying not to add drama to the site by just using it to catalog my coins and that's it. I have read some crazy stuff that doesn't really help. This is one of the reasons I decided not to apply to be a referee at this time, in addition to other reasons. I would liked to thank all the team members for their work, and in particular to Jarcek, who has done a fantastic organizational job, breaking down big problems into smaller tasks that can be handled by individuals. This is what we call a work breakdown structure in project management. Jarcek, please continued with this kind of initiatives and I'll continue helping along, as for the rest, please take an example from him and come up with similar initiatives in your respective areas. I'll also help in those, given the chance. I'm sure others will help, too.

Just came up from one of my travels, already updated with all the drama, voted for whatever was necessary, updated my 2016 coins in circulation which needs to be promoted as well...
Oh good old Numista, not much have changed during my absence so.... I agree with smoked_caramel though that Numista ahould be treated as a community even more than just a website :-)

I Do Think Of It More As A Community Thought, But It Was Originally Only A Website.
