White background on a photo [solved]

Please advise how to make a white background on a photo (in picasa for example). In my photos the background is not white, it's ugly.

There is an image editor called Photoscape which is available as a free download and this software has a very good facility to crop and rotate round images, leaving just the correctly orientated coin image on a white background. It might take a little while to become fully familiar with all the features but I think it is a great little program and I use it all the time.
