James II gunmoney Half crown Verdgris

This bothers me when a coin is close to being lost to all collectors in the future that could have been prevented. I was tempted to get it until I saw the reverse, It cannot be saved now and will be lost to the green cancer because cleaning will just show ugly pitting all over the reverse, making the coin look like the Irish penny I posted in the other Verdigris clean I did today. :(

Have you tried soaking some of the coins in Oil for a while? Even though it does not remove the Verdigris it does show up some detail making it worth saving. I do it a lot with toasted coins I find from Metal Detecting.
Also try a Sonic Cleaner as that can remove surface damage without causing pitting!

I don't own it, its a eBay auction that I was tempted to go for until I saw the reverse. :x

I have my own numerous methods to clean coins with verdigris or just generally ugly (low value coins only)
