Mexican Real Help

4 posts
I came across your website when looking around for people who might be able to help me figure out what coin I have exactly. It looks to be an old Mexican Real. It's in pretty beat up condition as you can tell from the photos I have attached. But what has me confused, is that from the research I've done Mexican 1/4 Real seem to have been made of copper, and mine does not look like copper but rather looks like silver. The date on it seems to be 1835, but again that is hard to make out as well. I don't have the coins weight, but it is about a hair bigger than an inch in diameter.

Any help or information you may have on this coin would be greatly appreciated.

It looks exactly like this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces4329.html
Possibly silver plated? But I'm not an expert.

Possably silver plated? But I'm not an expert.
That's the link that actually brought me to this website. And I agree that is my coin. But after seeing everywhere that the coin is made of copper, and mine clearly doesn't look like copper. So its made me think that it could be a fake (which I hope not). Luckily I found it on the ground where I work a few years back rather than spent money on it.
Sadly many coins have been plated for random reasons, l think yours is genuine but plated.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
