This would appear to be the very common belly dancer coin, usually made from a brass alloy to mimic a gold coin on the costumes of a belly dancer, hence the hole.

Someone with better knowledge will be able to give you a more informative answer shortly, but I am pretty sure that is what it is as I have plenty of them.

This is a "belly dancers' costume" imitation Ottoman coin. The tip off is the regnal year, 78. Neither Mahmud nor any other sultan has ruled this long.

I keep getting them in the large job lots I buy every week or two. I keep them for some unknown reason, could be hoping to find a belly dancer to give them to

I think the sellers sometime add them as "Click bait", by positioning the coin a certain way to cover the hole, people then might naively think it is the real deal and over bid.
