I say 'old bean', that's a bit uncalled for  ;)   ....but they do say the Grand Canyon formed when a Scotsman dropped a penny down a crack in the earth.

I should like to point out that the riots, in fact, took place in ENGLAND. We don't do riots in Scotland..just err..the occasional swordfights and flying headbutts.

As an American of Scottish descent, I can confirm this one.  :D
As an Australian, I am totally lost in this conversation.

The English tease the Scottish about them being miserly (like we tease the Irish for being stupid). Its an old inter-country banter.

Matt
As an English man living in Dundee i got a lot of teasing for the riots in England and how their were none in Scotland how uncivalised we English are and stuff (which is probubly true) but i can say with all honesty i have seen more bar fights in Scotland in in the last year than in my whole life in England.

LOL

You have never been to Basingstoke then? EVERY weekend the town center pubs ereupted in brawls, and frequently in the outlying pubs also. I remember one night in the Royal Oak at Worting when the bar erupted like a scene from Destry Rides Again. Two fellas landed on my table, and a mate dragged me clear from behind. Most exhilirating!!! :o

That said, I have heard that Glasgow can be a rather colourful place, particularly when Celtic play Rangers  :°

In England we called them riots, but I imagine a Glaswegian bar owner would describe it as a minor disagreement! :O
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

So its like how we tease the Kiwis about their romaning the sheep.
