Found this in a bag of half dollars. At first thought it a button but then it reminded me of some of the old coins I have seen pictures of and also noticed the button holes were hand made so... anyone have a clue as to what it is?

Bhutan rupee
Referee for Spain, Iberia (ancient), Suebi Kingdom and Visigothic Kingdom
It is a silver Bhutan coin, indeed used as a button
Bhutan is rather difficult to find the exact coin, but you can thry here:

Awesome thanks! I will have to see when I get home to look at it more closely, but does it look more like the ½ Rupee (Deb)(1790-1840) or ½ Rupee / Deb (Period III) (1835-1910)?
Thanks for the info Petrus!
I tried looking up values on ebay but couldn't find any of these older silver rupees only the newer ones... what would the value be for this? Probably not much with the holes but just curious. It says it is a Numista rarity being at 93 but not sure if that has to do with the value...
I have asked the author of this books for some determination:

Wait you are asking the author? cool, thanks a ton!
1.75cm diameter and weighs 2.1 grams... me thinks it could be fake coin-looking button. lol I also noticed it is smaller in diameter like some of the design has been cut off.
I already have his respons:
Kris said type 200-202, so before 1850
Value, in good condition (without holes) approx $20

Does it show type 200-202 on this website? And wouldn't pre-1850 mean silver (even though it doesn't make noise like silver does... at least U.S. silver)? Thanks for finding that out for me! :D
Oh yes, he was talking references in his book.
Perhaps if you send him a mail : vercrusse.coins@gmail.com
