See coins in 3D (without special equipment)

I'm having trouble understanding this.

How can looking cross-eyed at two coins make it any more "3D" than looking at one coin?

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
It probably harms the eyes
It's the same as looking at 3d images, to see the image you need to look beyond the physical picture which then brings the 3d picture in to focus.
