(With apologies to a certain comical cartoon book)
Inspired by PNightingale and his "what I should do with the hundreds of worthless Centimes"....
I have sold British brass thruppeny bits for use as ball markers at golf (apparently proper ball markers cost a couple of pounds, so at 20p each the customer was delighted with his purchase of two old brass thruppeny bits).
Other coins are being used as gaming counters. Many British families play gambling games, such as Newmarket, at Christmas and rather than use match sticks some use old coins.
Other suggestions of what to do with common, worthless coins.....?
I remember when I was a nipper in the late 60's/early 70's (yes, hard to believe, I know ) we had a tin of old farthings that came out when we played Pontoon (or Newmarket, for that matter). If only I knew what happened to that tin ...
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.
