They had "marmageddon" over here a couple of years ago. The marmite factory is in Canterbury and was damaged by the Christchurch earthquake and there was NO MARMITE!!
There was panic in the streets and jars of marmite were selling for hundreds of dollars on trademe.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
"British people are well known for being educated and well mannered, easy-going people."
LOL!
The author has obviously NEVER been to real Britain.
I cant make further comments here, Ben and co would not allow it and I would be censored (free speech is no more allowed in Britain than it is on Numista). Lets just say, for the ordinary working or unemployed poor, life here is shabby and what you see abroad is a fake facade.
Matt, you've hit the nail on the head there fella. Britain is now fuelled by a moronic drink & drug culture and I can see this lasting for many years. Sinking ship (hehe) if I can in the future I will be jumping !

I was going to say "How very dare you, Sir!", until I noticed you're one of us, but you're absolutely right. Maybe if they exported Shameless instead of Sherlock, opinions of us would surely change.
Oh neilithic, what have you done? We even kick off when someone if giving us complements!

True that, but to be honest i think all world is heading (or is already) there. Drug and booze hell.
Watching tv series "Booze Britain" or any similar tv series of ambulance real days, you see similar picture in many countries.
Scary that.
But i think it is great that good people make more name abroad than that kind of thing. Must mean, theres still hope...
I've been gone for almost 20 years now apart from a few extended visits and things do seem to be going downhill.
As I recall there were two very different Englands, North and South. Those in the South think the average Northerner drinks Dark Mild, smokes ship's plug tobacco and works 18 hours a day in a coal mine. Those in the North think all Southerners are called Rupert and make love to each other's bottoms. We can say the meanest things about each other but if some Johnny Foreigner starts to intrude all bets are off. Or at least that's the way it used to be before national pride became a dirty word.
The difference can be seen in full living color (colour) at the cricket match. The Long Room at Lord's is full of Jolly Taverner types who will applaud the touring team who have just beaten England's finest. "Well played Sir, well played indeed". The Western Terrace at Headingley will invade the pitch and eat them.
I've seen much of the world and for the most part liked what I found but there is nobody quite like an Englishman. In the words of either Cecil Rhodes or Rudyard Kipling, "To be born an Englishman is to win first prize in life's lottery."
The elite may sell the country down the river but no matter how dark it gets, no matter where you are in the world you will always be an Englishman. Be proud that our people gave the world Shakespeare, Dickens, the Pax Britannia, Manchester United and The Titanic.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Well being British I would like to disagree with all the negative comments about my beloved country but I can't as they're true!!!! But on the plus side we have a great country for collecting coins, especially foreign coins can found at any Asda change machine.
It was quite enjoyable to read the link. The following apply to me 3, 4, 7, 11, 12, 18 and 21. But I still quite like being British. I have a lot of European friends and it's amazing how accurate some of their stereotypes are of us.
