I have just found out that we are getting a new pound coin. It will be bi-metalic and twelve-sided like the old three pence. I can't wait to see the new design.
Yeah Ben posted a link yesterday for in the counterfeit £ thread. I like it ! The new design hasn't been decided yet and is going to be a competition so everyone should enter ! Bring back Britannia I say !
How do you enter?
They're going to have a competition later this year, no doubt the details will be posted on here somewhere closer to the time.

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
The public reaction in Southampton has been unanimously opposed to the idea. The cost of changing parking meters and vending machines is cited as a waste of money, and one lady even said, and I quote:

"what about all those shopping trolleys?"

It does seem like a crazy waste of money.

I wonder if it could be a nice little earner for the RM in the future as they have developed new tech for the coins and other countries with similar problems might be queing up to have coins struck.
:8D here what it may look like B.

Looks like a tea tray one might find in the house of an over zealous Royalist.

Do they match up with the brass 3ds? Them poor fruit machines will take one hell of a battering.
Thank the Netherlands  :)

Not sure what size the new coin will be, but the old 3 Pence is slightly thinner and slightly smaller than the current 1 Pound coin ...
