OK - I live in a small, very small town. Today we are having a labor day fair; as a prize for a hay scramble, (five age groups of children dive into a hay mound to retrieve coins) I just donated five 90% silver coins - 1 mercury dime full detail, one bu choice unc 1964 dime, one mint state 1964 half dollar, and 2 vg to f walking libs. The groups are younger children so I may just find theses coins again in the cash draw at the store in which I work. Though I ask the forum am I crazy for donating such prizes?

Yes I would say that's mad, but I can see myself doing it. If you made one kid very happy I would say it was worth it. Who knows you my have someone to trade coins with in a few years.
OK - just got back from the hay scramble. I made sure to stay for all five rounds. All but one walking lib was accounted for - the full detail mercury dime went to a young collector, the 64 went to a friends kid, a walking lib went to the same family, and the Franklin went to someone I don't know, so I made sure sure to tell each person what they got, and that they should not spend it as it's 90% silver. I must be crazy yet the young collector who got a full detail mercury dime has a choice bu coin, and whoever got the Franklin has a gem.
