I just got the coins from a swap from Austria. It took a month for them to come from New York. He mailed priority on July 13, and it's Aug 19. From Austria to New York no time at all. New York to Wisconsin one month. This is the second time something from New York took a month to get here. Was the Pony Express faster? Anyone else having issues with New York?     yours daryl
It is, what it is, or is it.
I had many such incidents lately. I think it's some kind of Security Scan of Mails maybe?

That could be it. That's sad 1 day from India and 6 days from NY.
It is, what it is, or is it.
I recently had a swap that a member in USA started on 8 Jun and we confirmed on 10 Jun.
My package from UK was received on 23 Jun but his package was sent USPS from Ann Arbor, and he wrote to them asking why I had not received it; reply was it was somewhere in Chicago Sorting Facility, as that was the outbound place before going to UK, and it arrived on 16 Aug (so 2 months 8 days).  8.

Well something's up, so heads up, mail coming and going out of the US may be slow.
It is, what it is, or is it.
USPS is Expensive, Slow and lot of Hassles involved. I am not a big fan of USPS and denying lot of Swap requested outside USA just because of Mailing worries.

Canada to Florida, as usual, 9 business days via snail mail, $2.20 for 100g/3.5 oz., no declaration forms. Makes sense when sending $5 - $10 worth of coins. The point is, it's getting there/here. I'm from a generation where two weeks was always standard and three weeks not out of the ordinary. I don't worry or panic until a month passes.

But from Anywhere in US to Canada is minimum USD 8 (parcel post) with mandatory Custom Declaration

Not if you pack thin and use stamps. Smart US ebay sellers taught me. ;)
I just received a letter from Texas in 5 business days.

I've got a great one for you all... Had a swap in which my partner sent the coins May 15th from Poland. They arrived in Connecticut on Saturday ... August 24th. The envelope was indeed post marked May 15th. I figured it was lost at this point. Quite a nice surprise!
I sent a package to France, it never got through NY, I lost $55 in coins plus $16 in shipping.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

If you ship Online (Of course you have to deposit the package at post office after paying for the shipping online) it will be little cheaper and you can track the package online. I think it's a better choice rather than going to post office and shipping it.

US mail is expensive and slow, but unfortunately it is still the best option for those of us who live there. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. If you put coins in an envelope with stamps, you can mail more cheaply, but they are also more likely to be lost/stolen, so do so with caution and preferably only with low value coins. That is how I usually mail coins sold on ebay, unless they are sold for a higher amount.
