I ordered a book about collecting commemorative medals and got an unexpected collection of stamps.

The postage was £2.80 for the book some of the stamps are 30 and 40p online now as collector items.
The book was secondhand priced 98p so I feel like I got a good deal out of it.

Guess I'll have to buy a stamp album now......and tweezers...........and stamp hinges!!!!!
My collection of commemorative medals and tokens.

  Nice  :)
I do not collect stamps, but always save the ones I get on coin swap envelopes ...

What medals is the book about - does it include French ones, as I have many of them. See link below.  :)

Nooo don't use hinges!  :snif:

You'll ruin the value of the stamp if it's MNH.

Yeah, if it's unused stamps you're best to go with Hagner pages, or a stock book with strips to tuck the stamps in.

I can't for the life of me remember what they are called, but I've used a type of sleeve for stamps.  They have black backs and a clear front.  You attach one half of the back to a page and then just sort of put the stamp in and flip the other half behind it.

***Found them!  They are called Showgard Mounts.

yeah Hawid make those mounts too.  You can get indiviual mounts or big strips you cut to size.  I didn't like those very much though.  The Hagners were much better.
But these mounts don't damage the stamp.

Hagners don't either.  They're made of completely chemically inert material so won't discolour stamps like the stamp hinges do.  I had a ton of pages to show off my collection of commonwealth George V portrait stamps.  They looked beautiful.
Sorry, you said "Hagners" I read "hangers" and thought "hinges."  Been one of those days  x.

Yeah, Hagners look quite striking once they're filled, they have the added bonus that you can slip pieces of paper with titles and information into the strips

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
