currently doing research on the Damnatio Memoriae of the Julio Claudian princeps between 27 BC- 68- AD.  The two that have received the most Private Damnatio’ on bronze coinage by far are:  Gaius (Caligula) and the examples today of Nero who was definitely publicly condemned!  The Face on Nero is usually what is attacked by unhappy plebs and citizens especially near the end of his reign (62/68). I have never seen any of his Prince of the Juventes portraits obliterated?  But his later excesses (Domus Aurea = Golden House) could have caused great resentment due to the space taken up for his comfort, and his travels to Greece for Dramatic presentations and his apathetic ways towards managing the principate, especially near the end.  Give me your thoughts and post any attempted coin photos you may have of Gaius or Nero.  Joe Geranio.
