Ban Liang or 'Liang Liang' ? [solved]

Hi, I couldn't find similar to this coin, only here in this topic: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic154516.html

The size is 22-24 mm, and it's 3,43g.

The lettering seems to be ‘兩兩’.

It's interesting that the coin in the mentioned topic has a similar oval shape and rectangular hole instead of square. It feels like old and seems genuine, but nothing I saw mentions this type.

Thanks for everybody who can help.

As explained in the topic, they are funerary coins, some of them are very large :)

I tried to find a photo of a Liang Liang coin and there is none. Based on Gratzer-Fishman book “The First Round Coins of China” these coins are funerary coins and from there I managed to find a mention of Liang Liang coin, A13.256-259. These coins are either extremely rare or very rare. Zeno.ru has none of these and they do have a huge collection of Chinese coins. Your coin does look a bit too “nice”, with clear images and also the hole outlook and color is a bit suspicious. So my guess is that it is not authentic.

Thanks for the picture and extra info.

Now I've seen lots of pictures about Ban Liang coins, and those can be very different, with many kind of shapes and color. Actually I found a Ban Liang with similar look and wear: https://www.chinaeducationaltours.com/guide/article-chinese-money-evolution.htm

The coin is an interesting state, it's extremely rare so it's more likely to be fake, but it looks authentic and similar condition to other coins at that age, so it's value is high or nothing.

Why I could find only 2 images even if it is not genuine? Why aren't there more copies of it?

I'm wondering how could I figure it out.

Just for the record I found a ‘Liang Liang’ coin in the fake category: https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=11286

Above all are fantasy coins.

It is often re-engraved or antiqued, and weighs no more than 13 grams.
