Hi Everyone,

I have this 1911 Australian penny, it appears to have die damage/planchette damage or just plain old damage after minting, it appears to be on both sides, if it is a genuine mint problem is there any added value or is it just a nice curiosity?

When I saw it at first I thought it was a die crack, but I will show you pictures as the coin is rotated, maybe some one with greater experience can advise.

Thanking you in advance

Kebab.

Die cracks don't extend to and down the edge. Probably a planchet defect.

Thanks, is there any added value because of the defect? Its not a valuable coin but nice to have all the same.

Sorry. I don't really follow values for errors like that.  I'd suggest spending some time on ebay under completed and sold items for planchet errors and see what the market is.
