A white metal medal of an Abbot Placidus but im also not sure what medal or exactly from where, im on holidays now so cannot search further on PC

I guess I’m a bit happy that I’m not the only one confused by this!!! Does this possibly mean it’s rare???

I have also translated it but it jas been awhile & have forgotten exactly what it meant. Just frustrated with it at this point.

The information I found after numerous tries is there was a Coptic archbishop of Jerusalem Athanius that lived from 1725-1766 however, I could not find any depictions of what he looked like. Only his predecessor of the same name.  He was also named vicor general of Egypt. Unless the years mean something different possibly to do with the monastery instead.

Had a quick go - some unreadable / guesses … 

 Also what is the diameter? Looks like a medal made of lead or pewter. 

I assume its from one pf the Bishoprics of the German States.

White metal yes that is pewter.

You have what I have came up with also. The banner above the figure as close as I can get with a loupe is VIRTVS SH? COPO?AT some letters are rather squashed so to speak & very difficult to see. Maybe this will at least give a starting point

If I can figure out what this is & it is of significant importance & value ( if I can be that lucky) I would like to put it up for auction & thank you all for your help in identifying it!! I would of course also help my children not have to struggle as much also. I GREATLY appreciate all who have contributed thus far. I would just be thankful to be able to enjoy some of life for awhile. I will not hold breath but as of now I am lucky enough to feel I have a bit of history held in my hand that some historical figure may have touched also. Quite humbling or wishful thinking?? To be determine.

 Guessing - APOST PETR? PAVLE? - is Apostles Peter Paul, maybe. 

Apostle Peter is what I came up with also. Between the year 1725 there is E.T. then 1766 when I took a look through the loupe.

 My earlier lettering 

1725   66  LEG  LTO 

 change to 

1725 ET 66 ELECT*LTO* 

 or similar. The * may be blank or undreadable letters. 

So there is no 1766 just 66 as far as I can see - yes?

 What can you make of the engraver name, on reverse - that might help a lot. 

Saying that, I just made this enlargement from the original 

 and it does look like WERNER lettering, perhaps? 

 If that is the name then - Peter Paul Werner - 

 which those 1725 / 66 dates fit in his dates [1689 to 1771] so it may be his medal. 

Yes ,thats it. Looking through a loupe I sometimes lose  my place!!

Engraver initials are really tough. I see the W but will try to use loupe to see more. Or try todo a rubbing of that area.

Never mind. It does need to appear to be PP WERN
