Identification of a 15 Kopeks 1866 HI – security edge, 3.07 g

Hello everyone,

I am looking for help to precisely identify a Russian 15 kopeks coin dated 1866, mintmark HI.

Details:

• Metal: Silver

• Weight: 3.07 g

• Edge: Security edge (unusual type, different from the usual reeded or plain edges)

• I could not find any reference for this exact type with this date and edge style in my catalogs.

If anyone has information about:

• This security edge variety for the 1866 HI issue

• Any catalog references (Russian or international)

• Rarity or historical background of this strike

… I would be very grateful for your input.

Thank you in advance for your expertise and assistance.

There is nothing unusual for edge on these coins. two coins that I have got same type of edge and I was not looking for the edge when collecting them. For me “dotted” type as displayed in coin page would be unusual. Both types fall under same classification.

Edge classification (not all of them, there is a second page)
