Interesting ad in that 1795 newspaper I obtained

Was looking at the pages of that 1795 newspaper I got, and on the back was this ad for an Almanac. It mentions how it includes charts and tables of the conversion rates and a bunch of other stuff for the different currencies that were circulating in the newly formed United States of America at the time.

I unfortunately don’t have the Almanac, but it’s still an interesting ad to see here, and seeing as it’s numismatics related, I figured the lot of y’all would find it interesting too!

The newspaper is protected, hence the reflection of my phone taking the picture

Yes — Almanachs (or, as here, Almanacks) are incredibly interesting little books. I linked to an Australian series a couple months back in the “Additions” thread. Here is the 1785 edition of the one advertized:

I consult quite extensively Trinidad newspapers and the local almanack is regularly advertized, but I found only the 1827 one online so far — and more recent ones from the 1890s and later that are not really much useful to me. There are also “almanach-like” so-called “blue books” from the 1860s-1880s which are basically the same as almanachs.

But yes: these were full of info, including moon cycles and tides, weights and measurements, currencies, etc. Here is one page of the conversion tables in the 1827 almanach for Trinidad:

There are several pages of this, so that if you had your almanach with you, you could always convert sterling into currency for any amount, and vice versa. There were also usually conversion tables for other major currencies, especially Spanish American, American, and French.

EDIT — Here's another one:
