Series dedicated to the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is a traditional classification scheme based on the Chinese calendar that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle. Chinese folkway held that one's personality is related to the attributes of their zodiac animal. The twelve zodiac signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
The series consists of twelve fantasy coins (similar to coins of the Chinese zodiac series issued in 2004) made of aluminium, issued in 2004. The obverses depict the coat of arms of Uganda, and the reverses depict the animal. These fantasy coins have a denomination of 100 Lingsshil. The word “lingsshil” is a word play based on a spoonerism of “shillings” (the denomination of the original coins).
