Series dedicated to the Chinese zodiac. The Chinese zodiac is a traditional classification scheme based on the Chinese calendar that assigns an animal and its reputed attributes to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle. Chinese folkway held that one's personality is related to the attributes of their zodiac animal. The twelve zodiac signs are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
The series consists of four sets of twelve coins of 100 Shillings each, two of them made of stainless steel clad iron (with differences in the coat of arms of each one) and the other two bimetallic with brass centre in copper-nickel ring (with differences in the coat of arms of each one), issued in 2012. The obverses depict the coat of arms of Somaliland, and the reverses depict the animal.
