Hello all!
I have this coin, but it doesn't seem to be in the Numista catalogue – or at least I can't seem to find it. I don't know if it's gold or electrum.
The diameter is 28 mm, so I guess it's Sear 1947?
Thanks!
Currently there are no hyperpyrons of John II here on Numista:

I am not feeling being the best person to answer your question since I'm struggling to get the difference between Sear 1938 and 1947 from the Wildwinds photos, to me they are looking the same:

Either way, no matter which one is the correct one, it will need to be added here.
With all that said, congrats for getting a gold coin.
Beautiful coin! Here's a list of Byzantine coins by Sear number, with photos, so you can compare your coin there if you wish.

Yeah, me too. To me it's almost nearly impissible to figure out which one it is, too. I did get some guidence in a FB forum where one said that Sear 1948 is 30 mm, and Sear 1947 is 28 mm. So since mine is 28 mm I figuered it would be Sear 1947, which he confirmed. I thoight I'd ask here as well to get it confirmed, but I guess it's equally difficult for all of us. 😅
With all that said, congrats for getting a gold coin.
Cheers, mate! 😊
But it says “Gold or Electrum”, and I guess it's impossible to know … 🤷♂️

The colour is different as well. Is it the same metal, or is one gold and one electrum?
