Finding out if the coin is silver?

Hey guys - I have this coin from Malta which has the lettering George award and stuffs. I want to know how to find whether it's actually silver, and if it is silver can anyone tell me the value of it?

It sounds more like a medal to me we never issued any coins for Malta with its name on it they were only homeland style 1/3 farthings

and my coin has little black marks on the ends which are very light so does that tell anything?

I would need to see a photo, as I do not personally know much about coins from Malta. All I know is, if the weight and diameter are the same as listed for the silver coin and the size is right, you have a real silver coin.
