Xianfeng 10 Cash Coins - Real? Contemporary Counterfeit?

4 posts • viewed 61 times

Hi Numista! Been a while since my last forum past but I thought this might be of interest. I happened to recently win a few coins in a cheap lot, and two of them appear to be Xianfeng 10 cash coins. Their appearance however is rather crude, leaving me wondering if they’re counterfeits (modern or hopefully, contemporary).

The larger one measures at about 35mm and weighs 23 grams while the smaller one measures at about 32 mm and weighs only 13.61 grams. If anyone has any information or idea about the authenticity of these, I’d appreciate it. Thank you all!

looks like counterfeits

I’m thinking so as well, especially with the heavier one (super blurry calligraphy, rough cast); the lighter one I’m a little more interested in due to the casting hole and defect on the inner rim (still has some weird calligraphy on the reverse though).

Yes, the text on the “coin” looks very blotchy
