Another year (1778) for Colloredo's 10 Kreutzer

Hi All!
I think we need a new entry for the year 1778

N#31537

because of this:

https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=lot&sid=6353&lot=925

and:

https://www.ma-shops.co.uk/saenn/item.php?id=43910&srsltid=AfmBOoqEqlvICrLJjPePyesgtxV8OX1t9pMRPN0gBQ-GUim6Yw_NAlro

Thank you!

For some reason, KM has  #439 only from 1773- 1775, and then KM# 442 from 1776-1784, but I do not see the difference between the types according to images I can find.

@imreh  what do you think?

Size of the bust?

Yes, there is a change in bust size, but there is also presence/absence of the M.

Here is what I see from examples on acsearch (and, once again, KM seems to be in left field):

1773 M  Small Bust.  Zottl 3302, Probst 2504

1774  … could not find an example, but probably Zottl 3303, Probst 2505, hence 1774 M

1775 M  Large bust.  Zottl 3303, Probst 2506

1776 M  Large bust.  Zottl 3304, Probst 2507

1777 M  Large bust.  Zottl 3305, Probst 2508

1778 Large bust.  Zottl 3299, Probst 2509

1779 Large bust.  Zottl 3300, Probst 2510

1780 Large bust.  Zottl 3301, Probst 2511

1782 M Large bust.  Zottl 3307, Probst 2512

1784 M Large bust.  Zottl 3308, Probst 2513

So … KM groups 1773 and 1775 which clearly have different bust sizes together under KM# 439.

KM has 1778M, 1779M and 1780 M which do not appear to exist in KM# 442.

Zottl appears to group the ones lacking the M (#3299-3301) and the ones with the M (#3302-3308).

A Creation Request has been submitted for the KM# 442 type, and some comments added in the KM#439 since we seem to be following KM.

No the M is also on the large bust coin the coin page had the wrong image and you could see it there. You can see a bit of it on the Krause images too.

Salzburg KM 442 is between 1776 and 1786.

However, no M for the years 1778-1780 with the large bust.  I think this is clear in the two links (Numisbids and MA-shops) in the original post.

From the Zottl catalog number sequence, it looks like he considers those years a different type.

The current listing  N#31537 now has comments added that 1773 has a small bust, and 1775 has a large bust .

The Creation Request for KM# 442 covers 1776-1786, and corrects the mistakes in Krause on 1778-1780 with no M, also providing an example of a 1778 with no M in the Comments field.

It means the original poster's 1778 will go in the new listing for KM# 442.

Hopefully that will help.

The listing covering your date is now in the catalog:  N#438148
