I'm thinking that Stacks Bowers just made an absolute killing from the 5% buyers fee plus undisclosed sale commission.

And that we are at the more enjoyable end of the business.

Makes the Double Eagle seem that much more affordable.

The coins at the very pinnacle are mostly traded between speculators and highly specialised dealers. They may disappear into a private collection for a generation but eventually they return to the market.

At least it keeps them out of the hands of avaricious and largely ignorant museum curators.

If its not in my collection, it should be in a museum!

It's one thing to have the money, its quite another thing to be able to find one that's up for sale, of course I've already got the money, I'm just waiting for one to come up for sale
