Hello, and I hope you are well!

I am proposing the addition of the sub-issuer “Later Gupta Dynasty”, under the umbrella of the Gupta Empire issuer, within the larger umbrella of Ancient India. (Spanish: Dinastía Gupta Posterior) (French: Dernière Dynastie Gupta). It's Wikidata code is Q28116147.

Pulled from Wikipedia: “The Later Gupta dynasty, also known as the Later Guptas of Magadha, were the rulers of the Magadha region and partly of Malwa from the 6th and 8th centuries CE. The Later Guptas emerged after the disintegration of the Imperial Guptas as the rulers of Magadha and Malwa however, there is no evidence to connect the two dynasties and the Later Guptas may have adopted the -gupta suffix to link themselves the Imperial Guptas”.

Currently, Later Gupta coins are listed under the main Gupta Empire issuer, however, this passage supports the claim that the Later Guptas were a distinct dynasty deserving of it's own category, while at the same time remaining partially associated with the Gupta Empire, which is why I am proposing it as a sub-issuer.

Examples of Later Gupta coins currently on Numista include:

N#69554

N#139620

N#138725

Linked Issuers:

India (Ancient) → Gupta Empire → Later Gupta Dynasty

Have a wonderful day!

Is it possible to identify those coins down to individual rulers?

I suspect that your request is about ruling authorities and not about issuers. Classify your post properly so that admins can pick it up faster instead of “boosting”

This is not about ruling authorities. As my post states, the “Later Gupta Dynasty“ or the “Later Gupta Kingdom” was a separate kingdom from the Gupta Empire.

I am unsure if the coins can be identified down to specific rulers, as most of them have ranges of 200+ years

Done, but date ranges of the 3 coins don't match Wikipedia (6th-8th CE)

Thank you!

I’m not sure what’s up with the date ranges on the coins. As far as I know, they aren‘t attributed beyond “Later Guptas”, and I’m not sure where whoever uploaded those pieces got their numbers from
