RPC Online was added not too long ago to Numista and I believe it was a great idea. But I'm wondering why we still keep RPC. As I understand it, RPC Online is just RPC, but made available online + some coins cataloged after the publishing of the RPC books. So information-wise, RPC Online is strictly superior.

But keeping both references on Numista makes things just more difficult. New members might not know which to pick. And even currently, there are already entries with both listed (and both obviously being the same number).

So I propose to just delete the normal RPC volumes from Numista and automatically change the entries still listed under them to RPC Online.

I agree (but dont own the book so cannot confirm there is no difference with website), and we could rename RPC online in just RPC

Could someone with database access construct a query to see if there are any coins which have both RPC and RPC Online and the references differ? Those, if any, should be cleaned up before the merge happens.

Many numbers do not correspond between RPC physical and online. For example, RPC I 2000E (page 342) corresponds to RPC Online II 619B

The physical catalogues also contain more information than the online catalogues. The physical catalogues show the average weight for example, as well as a more comprehensive explanation of the inscription varieties. Sometimes, the information also differs, for example, average diameters.

So if the numbers can be different we will need both the online version and the book version.

I guess this topic can be closed then.
