hi
it takes a few days sometimes.
but to be honest you have very little to trade.
most will already have these.
sound harsh but you need a bigger selection of trade coins

I still am new to the site, and it takes time to put in all of the coins. I even specify that if they are looking for something I don't have listed to ask. Also if that is the reason, shouldn't they decline the offer by clicking "I don't want to swap", instead of ignoring?
If I received a swap offer from someone with exactly 5 circulating US cents to swap I'd ignore it too.
I used to politely decline or even try to open up a dialogue but having been down this road so many times I ain't going down it no mo'.
It's not up to me to supply the other party with a "wants list", yes it's time consuming to enter your swap list but if you don't have the time to do so then perhaps you ought to wait for a while before making swap offers?
It normally goes like this:
Hi want to swap (30 or 40 vintage coins selected)
Yes, but you don't have any coins.
Well, tell me what you want.
OK, here is a wants list which has taken me an hour to compile.
Oh, I don't have anything like that, I've got some <insert random pocket change which bears no resemblance to your collecting interests as stated on your profile and in the painstakingly produced wants list>.
No thanks.
&^%# you then. Are you trying to cheat me or something?
Sigh!
The whole point of the Numista swap engine is that it takes the hard work out of trading coins. However, like anything else in life you will only get out of it what you are prepared to put in.
You have only been a member for 4 days, don't you find it unreasonable to demand a response by immediate return during the Christmas period? It's not unusual for me to take a week to respond, sometimes even longer, those who I choose to trade with understand this.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

I only said that about the list because some people have a list ready or know roughly what they want. As I said before I am still putting my coins in, even as we speak. As for declining offers, what's the purpose if people aren't going to use it? I am not being sarcastic, I just want to know. I am still new as you know, and I'm not on here looking for $100 coins. I just like different coins of the world. Most of my collection is everyday circulating coins from the US and other countries.
Yep, I know you are new and I'm trying to be helpful, not just critical.
The reason that many swap offers are ignored rather than rejected is that some people take a polite rejection as a personal insult and react accordingly. I don't know about you but I really don't have time for that kind of drama. This is my hobby, I do it because I enjoy it. If I wanted long and stressful negotiations I would go back into the property business and make a bunch of money.
Your argument revolves around other members not using a minor feature of the site yet you seem unable to see that your problems are being caused by unrealisatic expectation of response times and YOUR failure to use what is the single most important feature - the exchange list.
Take your time Matthew, create your swap list, then find suitable partners. Before you know it you will have 100 positive feedback and several swap offers a day.

It's taken me over a week to respond to swaps before because I use my mobile app so I don't see the swap list that oftern And forget about it, I think you need to populate you're list before you start some swaps man people want an easy ride :)
I see pnightingale is making new friends. Harsh reality for matthew88: Holidays, too few coins in list, no description of what you want/have on profile page, plus, you're asking people to ask you. This entire post does not make sense. Get to work, set up shop on Numista, PROPERLY, and then, only then, demonstrate patience.
When Christmas shopping, do you prefer to see items in stock and on display or a store where you have to ask about an item, then they check, then they order, then you get it for Valentine's Day (... sort of like SEARS )?
Thanks everyone for the responses! I realize I need to practice patience. I have just deleted my Facebook account and am going to be doing all my swaps here. I am excited about the opportunities that await me. Many more sources here than on Facebook. I did not take any of the responses as harsh or rude. I understand that they were the truth I hope we can all do a swap at some point, and thanks again for those who responded. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and a happy upcoming New Year!
