Rules of Exchange

Just a simple question here.

What's the rule of exchanging here? In the case of a successful negotiation, who should be sending first? In another forum, some may argue that whoever started the conversation should send first. Is that right? Is this the golden rule of exchange here? As you can see, I have not exchanged with anyone here and I am in no hurry to start one too. Discussion for a swap can be tedious, in my opinion. As a member of another forum, I have plenty of offers for exchange, and even offered to send out to me first, but I turned them down. However, I did conclude one exchange and in that deal, I was short changed by two cheap notes (face value about $6). I did not retaliate and just let it go as the notes that provided were in excellent conditions.

Can anyone share some insights regarding this?

Thanks

Who will send first? A person with no swap completed or a low number of swaps usually

sends their items first. You may also agree with the other user to send at the same time.

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

Thanks ZacUK.

In that case, it is unlikely that I will ever exchange with anyone here.🤕

Don't say that. Several times I have exchanged with new bees. Just small invaluable exchanges to help them to get an amount of swaps. If you want to do that with me, you're welcome, just read my profile first.

EDIT:

I see, you only swap banknotes, so I'm disqualified, since I don't collect them…

ahkai - all of us have to start somewhere.

You post a lot of sensible stuff and my knowledge has improved. Glad to swap with you.

The best part is your posts are constructive and positive - Unlike some others🤐

To date my experience has been great with all swaps - except for one at the start where I was

cornered / ambushed by the swapper. I panicked and gave in to their demand without discussion with anyone.

All the other swaps have been cool and the swappers very welcoming.

Let me know if there is anything good enough on my swap list for you.

Are you The Dane in Paris? I thought your name was very familiar. If you are, I was wondering what you are doing now. Last time I saw your message was on the another coins forum back in 2010.

Yes, I am only collecting banknotes only. I used to collect a few coins, stamps, pocket size calendar, and any ‘rubbish’ that I can get hold of, but not anymore. I even when and bought the entire Shell Remote Control car series that was introduced early this year.

Thanks

I am actually “a Dane in Paris” now, since we're several…… Retired and still collecting coins and still documenting my findings for the good of all collectors.

There is no general rule, all terms of exchange depend on consent between swap partners. Personally I use the members with less than 10 ratings send first rule and whoever wishes to send by regular mail sends first. I use these rules in order to avoid scams but when swapping with members active on the forum anything goes as I'm sure those members are honest.

Basically, whatever you agree to is the rule you use.

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.

If you want to make swaps, at least put some coins in your swaplist.

...you can run,  but you can't hide...

Hi Yvon

I do not collect coins, only banknotes. I find it hard to send out coins, as postage can be very expensive. I used to send some free circulated coins to overseas collectors. The amount was small, few dollars, but the postage cost more than the content values.

I am not too worry for not getting any offers for exchanging. Nowadays, I buy most of my notes.

My spares banknotes are listed on my website as mentioned below, but I believe not many people have visited that link either.

It's all good

Sorry that I missed your post. I am looking for a note from the Ulster Bank 20 pounds polymer dated December 2021. If you have spare and interested for a swap, please let me know and I will provide more details. Thanks

Yes, and the one that I am looking for has the date of 2 December 2021, which is the latest or current circulating note. If you can get them, please let me know. I can take a pair in UNC condition. Many of them have fine scratch lines on the see-through window, and I am avoiding them. If we cannot come to an arrangement, I am willing to buy them from you.

I have all the NI, BoE and all Scotland (except one) polymer notes in my collection and I am doing catch up here.

Thanks
