My Dream banknote is this 50 rials from the last shah of iran, it inspired me to build my collection when I saw this under my cousin’s phone case.

there was once a seller on ebay selling a bunch of pre and post revolutionary iranian currency. Sadly due to ebay policy the account was removed and i was only able to nab a 10,000R with Komeini on it, but i really wanted some of the older Shah notes. My dream note would be the US $1000

They’re actually very cheap in iran, especially Shiraz for example this 50 rial banknote can be found for 300,000 Iranian toman which is equivalent to ten US dollars but they are used and thought can never find any UNC ones,I have the 1969 50 rials but not the 1974-1979 one.

That is indeed a great choice.

Coin, any of the Newark Siege money. It's the direct connection with the situation and time.

Banknote, there are lots. But I would like to find a pristine example of a Devonshire Bank, Okehampton £5. I've heard rumours, but have only seen £1.

Here's a link to a £1.

Never aspire to have more, aspire to be more. (unless we're talking collecting of course).

We had this thread here for banknotes for favourite paper, but I interpreted it as items I owned, so my top 3 dream notes would be:

Any Balboa note from Panama:

this commemorative $25 from Canada

or this 50 Rupees note from Seychelles!

Hadn't heard about the Newark siege money - interesting.

The Canadian $25 looks cool.

It's a tough note (either P-48 English with 140,000 or P-49 French with 20,000 issued). I'd be happy with either one as there's many "firsts" for this short-lived seldom seen banknote. First commemorative, first note to depict 2 people (King George/Queen Mary) & first to have a scene of another country -Windsor Castle on the reverse). Few people kept them as $25 was a lot of money during the Great Depression so both are very scarce & dealers don't like them very much b/c they're a tough note to sell (low quality/circulated rags can cost several thousand). So that's why I'd like one (just all the firsts & I have always thought of it as a “Trophy” or “Dream note”).

Any Panama Balboa note would be nice.  They're called “Arias 7 day issue” because he was ousted 7 days after these were released & then the big push to have them recalled & destroyed.  Only a tiny portion of the initial 180,000 released were actually kept so these very scarce (in any condition) & seldom come to auction.

The Seycelles 50 Rupees is also called the “SEX” note because the word appears in the palm trees/design on the front.  It is a super popular banknote amongst many World Currency collectors & I'd just love to be able to afford a high grade example.
