Hello,

this topic is inspired by this topic https://en.numista.com/forum/topic130805.html

If we have a look on this Poland coin N#63785

we will see such a picture

coin with year 1980 has a reference to a book called “A Catalog of Modern World Coins 1850-1964” - doesn't make any sense

OK, in the reference we have “And 1 more volumes”

The second volume under reference Y is a book “Current Coins of the World” with Publication year 1988

OK, now it make sense, coin dated 1980 year is mentioned in a book published in 1988 year

Now let's check this Russian coin N#81936 with year 2010 and Y reference

book called “A Catalog of Modern World Coins 1850-1964” - doesn't make any sense

book “Current Coins of the World” with Publication year 1988 - doesn't make any sense

So where I can find reference Y# 1243? At least we need to put a block like this that we have for KM reference

And actually coin could be found on Numismaster website - https://numismaster.com/MC_183931

At the end, one more illogicality

coin dated 1980, but popup shows book “Standard Catalog of World Coins 2001-Date”. Show we be able to select which book we're referencing when putting KM (Y etc) reference or system should show correct book based on coin date ?

Perhaps can be defined groups of catalogues (or catalogues with volumes; really it is).

For example, we have these KM catalogues (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Catalog_of_World_Coins):

  • Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 2001-Date (14th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States.
  • NumisMaster (https://numismaster.com/)
  • Thomas Michael (editor); 2016. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1701-1800 (7th edition). Krause Publications, Iola, Wisconsin, USA.
  • Thomas Michael (editor), Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2018. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1601-1700 (7th edition). Krause Publications, Iola, Wisconsin, United States.
  • Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1901-2000 (47th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, USA.
  • Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1801-1900 (9th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States.

There is only one catalogue:

  • Tracy L. Schmidt (editor) et al.; 2016-2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1601-Date. 5 volumes (different editions). Krause Publications, Wisconsin, United States.
    • Volumes:
      1. Thomas Michael (editor), Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2018. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1601-1700 (7th edition). Krause Publications, Iola, Wisconsin, United States.
      2. Thomas Michael (editor); 2016. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1701-1800 (7th edition). Krause Publications, Iola, Wisconsin, USA.
      3. Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1801-1900 (9th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States.
      4. Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 1901-2000 (47th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, USA.
      5. Tracy L. Schmidt (editor); 2019. Standard Catalog of World Coins / 2001-Date (14th edition). Krause Publications, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, United States.
    • Website: NumisMaster (https://numismaster.com/)

The pop-up can display only the whole catalogue, not volumes, and one image with all volumes, similar to this:

Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

The coin has a Y ref on NumisMaster:

https://numismaster.com/MC_46699

Problem is NumisMaster are now using KM/Y/C and others, can be a little confusing, we have no way to enter a Y ref other than as a Yeoman number.
