I would be grateful for help in identifying this coin of my fathers.

The coin is 2.5cm in diameter, 2mm thick, weighs approximately 8.7grams. It is silver in colour, with some tarnishing. There is some damage as shown in the first photograph. Dad visited a lot of middle-eastern countries but is not sure where he picked this up.

Any help much appreciated.

I have checked the link, and it states these coins are made of copper - Dad's coin just doesn't look like copper?

Would you know if any earlier coins made in silver/silver alloys

 Your coin in the pictures is copper - someone used metal polish on it.
