Hello,

I suggest to replace the current term "currency" by "mass unit" for bars and rounds. Then, I suggest to add two mass units: Ounce (oz) and Kilogram (kg) (+ others if you have ideas).

Currently, the monetary units are a legacy of the old exonumia classification system but are no longer relevant. Some countries (UK) use the currency section to classify the different series. Now that we have a new classification system and a box to notify the series, these old denominations are obsolete.

Adding Kilogram or Ounce will be useful to give a reference (even if it seems logical). Example :
Value: 1 Gram Gold (0.01)
Mass Unit : Kilogram

or

Value: 1/4 Once Silver (0.25)
Mass Unit : Troy Once

N.B It would also be useful to list the different types of ounces for further clarification.

Interesting! We could probably instead use the weight informations and generate a table of correspondence maybe?

Yes why not !

I've looked through the bars catalogue, and here are the four mass units I've spotted:
- Kilogram (N#272067)
- Troy Ounce (N#287876)
- Ounce avoirdupoids (N#301959)
- Grain (N#238191)

Actually,  I think we can leave the box with the weight (in grams), but we can add a window that opens with the equivalences if we move the mouse over it. However, I don't know if this would be relevant, knowing that sometimes ingots announce 1 Troy ounce (31.1g), while the ingot actually weighs (31.3g). Does this mean that we would make the equivalences on the theoretical or actual weight?

I fully support this idea !

Currently, the sort order look messy as you jump from 1 gram to 1 kilo to 1 ounce …

Always look on the bright side of life!

Any other opinions?

No one here can do anything, except Xavier ;-)
I suggest you post a new thread as “Idea to improve Numista”, because it is not really a modification request you made

Created a thread for this for Xavier to see and catch it better: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic131722.html I will close this thread formally.
