Help to identify small German medieval coin - City of Isny, 1 Pfennig [solved]

8 posts • viewed 77 times

Hi,

long shot, but hoping someone can recognise this very small coin ?

diameter 12-13mm approx

weight between 0.4 and 0.5g

appearance - Billon

looks like a very simple eagle on one side with a date of what looks like 15 on left side of eagles head, but can’t make out the last 2 digits on the right side.

obverse is more or less unreadable unfortunately:-(

any help or ideas, much appreciated

many thanks

16??, what about Poland?

16??, what about Poland?

Possibly - various searches of the catalogue don’t show any eagle that looks quite so basic , even without a country filter.  Also this coin appears to be missing any writing round the edge (just has the hammered dots) which is what led me to think it was an earlier coin.

thanks for the quick reply though, I’ll keep digging,

cheers
