Old Roman coin to identify. [solved]

5 posts • viewed 105 times

To the best of my knowledge of Roman coins. It appears bronze or copper in tone. However under a magnifying glass it has small remnants of silver.  The coins with the emperor wearing a crown were silver “washed” with a thin layer of silver and it's called billon. I can't find this coin in particular through my usual sources for Roman coin identification. And I've already identified dozens.  Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty worn, not much details left. One thing I can say for sure the denomination is antoninianus due to the radiate crown. These were in use in the 3rd century and were silver or, later, silver plated.

Now comes the guessing part. My guess it the emperor is Tacitus, I think I can read part of his name on the obverse. And the reverse could be CONSERVAT MILIT since I think I see two standing figures but this is just guessing.

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.
