Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins

If you “clean” them you can save your time appraising them because then most of their value will have been destroyed.

Yes absolutely do nothing to them. Do not clean anything as Idolenz says, you will destroy much of the collector value. It is best to get professional opinions on them. You could post photos of examples here and many members here would be more than happy to give you advice on them and tell you exactly what you have and their approximate value. Just take clear photos of both obverse and reverse preferably on a clear white background and post a few at a time. I would just love to see them.

Please do not use this as a guide as to values. VERY MISLEADING for your purposes, it is only good for helping you identify what type of U.S. coins you have. These are values for professionally slabbed and graded coins at inflated full retail prices. The origonal poster does not know how to grade yet and they are not slabbed and graded and will not realize nearly as much.

You're lucky !

1800's coins are usually valuable, so place each coin  without cleaning them, in an individual envelop in order not to damage them more than their current state, at first glance you might sort between USA and spanish world, some of them might be of the same coin type

Then issue a new forum request on Numista for each coin type with a precise picture and a precise diameter measure, that will help you for selling on ebay or elsewhere. Sometimes a precise weight at least 1/10 g  will be necessary. You might use this site to remove the background of your pictures, then crop your pictures with “Paint”, “Picture manager”, etc…

Please issue only a request a day, we hate seeing a list of request the same day as : ID-1, ID-2, ID-3 etc… and we usually skip this type of invasive requests.

Also you may find some attractive wording for your requests as : "Awesome 1862 USA silver coin to be evaluated" instead of “ID-29”

And more details on how you found it!  What exactly did  you find?  An actual chest?  In an attic? Cellar space?

So many questions!
