I had been directed by a friend towards a dating cash, but there were obvious differences that made it unlikely...
Maybe someone else has seen something of the sort?

To be honest
my first impression was a tourist token
the characters are thick and the patina does not look good to me

modern fantasy issue, patina is acid etched. This coin is based on Jin dynasty coinage (1115–1234)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jin_dynasty_coinage_ (1115%E2%80%931234)
*metal is wrong for the period, brass coin didn't show up until mid to late Ming Dynasty

*Chinese calligraphy is wrong, authentic Jin dynasty coin still have resemblance of Song Dynasty's slender-gold-style (callighaphy), this one have the hand writing of elementary school kid
