Indonesia loved issuing souvenir sheets during my collecting time; several unused, one lightly hinged. I haven't identified these.
What seasonal fruit is present in Indonesia in more than 103 varieties? In 2018 what country negotiated the right to sell this whole fruit frozen to China when previously only Thailand had the rights to sell the whole fruit there?
First correct response by or before noon Eastern US time July 16, 2021, will be the winner. If there is no correct response, the first response wins. Responses in English, please. Good luck to all who choose to participate. My choice of the winner is final.
Anyone who has ever been to a Southeast Asian country such as Indonesia or Vietnam knows the stinky fruit durian (Durio zibethinus). The rare amino acid ethionine is the culprit for the disgusting smell of the tropical fruit. Due to its pungent smell, which resembles a combination of rotten onions and sweat socks, durian is banned in hotels in Singapore and Thailand. Despite that smell, durian is very popular among the local population: the fruit has a high nutritional value, enormous sweetening power and creamy substance.

The durian is not stinky to everyone. I have no problem with the smell and the taste is rather sweet and delicious at its peak ripeness. Good durian ice cream is to die for. The only problem I have with the fruit is the cost. Depending on the variety 2-3 bites can cost anywhere from US$5 - $30.
Rsirian1, you are the winner in record time! Souvenir sheets will ship tomorrow. As you will see, the fruit is featured on one.
Essor Prof, I have had the pleasure of tasting the durian in Malaysia. I thought the smell was rotten peaches and raw sewage. I wasn't impressed with the taste either. I barely got close to the fruit except to take the one bite offered and my clothes from that day stunk up my suitcase for a week until I could do laundry.
I'll have to try harder to stump the knowledgeable members of the forum.
Durian is probably like marmite.
Having said that we liked it during our visit to Malyasia. A sort of similar fruit would be the jackfruit in India. The taste is sweeter and the aroma is divine.

I actually tried durian when I was in Singapore. The taste is amazing! Super sweet and creamy. It’s the aftertaste that made me gag…
