So I ended up with an 1877CC US Trade Dollar, I was wondering if it's stupid to trade my coin that is circulated but probably VF-XF condition for a 1oz platinum or gold coin... let me know what you guys think

1. It's probably fake if you got a good deal.
2. Most dates are not worth as much as a 1 oz gold or platinum coin.
got passed down from my uncle on his will... so I send it in for certification and ended up being a real copy though it came back with a small hole punched in it
and also didnt specified the condition.... I'll never send coins again to certificate to that place again and I recommend to avoid it for all traders out there
Good god, that's terrible. Did they switch coins on you?
I've never heard of the company, are they well known in Australia?
Here in the US we have five reputable grading companies, then a second tier who are trying to compete and below them we have thousands of basement slabbers who certify their own coins (always MS 70) before putting them on eBay. They are the bottom of the food chain.
Non illegitimis carborundum est. Excellent advice for all coins.

Hahaha yes they are! Though I don't live there. I live in the States as well but I was there for my uncle's burial and well will :/ since I went there and planned to stay there for a while, I sent it in for certification there and and came back like that, with no holder, a hole and a certificate which I sent back and asked for an explanation. here is a picture
I think it was done to check if it was real or not, and now idk if to send it here for certification or not
I don't think it will grade now, it will come back body-bagged as post mint damage. That's a real shame as it's a really nice coin and with enough provenenance to make me think it's real.
It just goes to show that anyone can set up shop as a coin grader or dealer without any experience at all. What kind of moron uses a drill to test the metal content???
I would be very tempted to sue these bottom feeders for the value of the coin in full, any fees you paid, the cost of postage and your legal fees.

I thought of it but I'm not familiar with Australian laws and I think it is real... since I also got it with Morgan dollars, stone mountain memorial half dollars and other silver coins.
