Hi all,
Any ideas on why the colon on this 1818 George III coin is central after FID? All other examples are FID: DEF as opposed to FID : DEF
Also, his chin shape differs from other examples. As a result I am unsure as to what denomination the coin is.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like a contemporary counterfeit of a halfcrown.

Thanks weighs 10g, and measures 31mm. Forgery has crossed my mind.

That's roughly the correct size for the half crown AgIsSilver mentioned, but significantly underweight (10g vs 14g). Counterfeit seems correct.

There was a glut of forged coinage that year in particular, the sixpence, shilling and half crown were made from brass and given a silver wash.
