My goal is to collection at least 3 coins from every country in the world but while I was researching I noticed that some countries did not issue coins such as Kosovo. So can anyone assist me on which countries only issue banknotes for circulation?

There are many countries that don't effectively use coins anymore but have used and issued them in the past but if you mean countries that never issued coins in there history there shouldn't be more then a couple if you take out countries like Kosovo and Montenegro that don't issue any currency be it coins or banknotes.

Update: This is the list of countries that exists/existed since 1900 (excluding fantasy and non coinage nations) and at the bottom the countries that have only issued precious metal coins and countries that haven’t issued coins either issued banknotes instead or nothing at all (but I’ve got a separate sheet complete with them). Please check if I’ve missed any countries because this is vital for me.

I can see you put a lot of work into this. I have a relatively few comments.
1. Isn't Austrian Netherlands too old for this list?
2. Denmark - Faroe Islands is also listed as Faroe Islands.
3. Saint Helena is misspelled Saint Halana.
4. Following your pattern of using separate listings for name changes, you should include Western Samoa (Samoa i Sisifo in Samoan), the name of Samoa to 1994.
5. List Sri Lanka - Ceylon as just Ceylon?
6. Does UAE - Ras al Khaimah belong in list at bottom? Should other emirates also be listed? The emirates should be listed separately as independent countries as their coins were issued before the UAE was formed. You spell out United Arab Emirates in full later in circulating list.
7. I would add North Yemen and South Yemen, North Yemen being a common name for the Kingdom and the Arab Republic, and South Yemen being a common name for the People's Democratic Republic (also known as the People's Republic of Southern Yemen for a short time [I believe no coins issued]). I would also add South Arabia which had coins before uniting with other states of the former Protectorate of Aden to form the People's Republic of Southern Yemen. And last I would add the Yemenite states, which have coins around 1900.
One more country to add: Hejaz, became an independent state in 1916 and united later with Nejd (which did not issue coins) to become Saudi Arabia. Early coins listed as Saudi Arabia in catalogues are inscribed for Hejaz and Nejd.
Thanks for the extra information this helps quite a lot however Nejd doesn’t appear as a separate country but maybe it had the same fate as Ceylon where it was reorganised in to Sri-Lanka.

Hejaz and Nejd were parts of the Ottoman Empire. Hejaz was a kingdom from 1916 (issued coins) and the Sultanate of Nejd (spurious countermarked coins only) conquered it in 1925 and the union which issued coins was known as Hejaz and Nejd to 1932 when the dual kingdom was renamed Saudi Arabia.

Thanks for the information but after some digging these are located in the coin catalogue of Saudi Arabia. I think that Nejd was moved into the Saudi coin page the same way that Ceylon to Sri Lanka and to the Congo.

Many inflation countries hardly ever issued coins.
A good example is Zaire (1960 - 1997) which only issued a handfull of coins up to 1988 which were all cheap steel and worthless. By 1988 through to 1997 they issued just banknotes.
A current example of banknotes only is Nigeria. They last issued a 50 Kobo, 1 and 2 Naira coins in 2006 and are now demontized, as the Naira is like 500 to a dollar and only use notes from 5 to 1000 Naira. I think Mozambique is also notes only along with some other places like Syria, Afghan and Lebanon which have serious inflation issues.
Many places also have coins that are nearly or practically worthless like Vietnam (2000 dong coin worth about 6 cents), Sri lanka (10 rupees worth about 7 cents), Indonesia (1000 rupiah coin worth about 10 cents). All values NZ Dollar which is worth 72 US cents.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

I agree but I’m talking about nations/issuers that have only issued banknotes since they have exist/existed since 1900 so even though South Sudan, Venezuela, DPR Korea don’t currently use coins due to inflation they have issued non-precious metal coins in the past post 1900 so they count in the list.

Originally I was going for 20.000 but after this extensive research I decided for 30.000 (2.000 for silver) and I’m not talking about coins with different date, I’m also talking about types because I do collect anything that is different from each other but only type in the binders to make the collection much more diverse. While different years would be stored in various boxes.
Finally the remaining 3.499 would be left empty for when new countries/issuers start minting their own coinage, when existing countries become full and require others to be moved to accommodate them and for the list of common ancient semi modern countries to be complete from this Tread to have older coins in their includes as well.

Firstly I have virtually every country listed from the country list of coins on the flags tread but like I said above “if I've missed some because this is very important to my challenge/personal goal”.
