Posting to South American countries

My general observation is posting to or getting post from any South American country takes a loong lonnng time.

So far I never heard from one guy in Columbia and he sent very abusive mails to me when I asked him why he did not send his coins. It is not on this website though, but he could be hiding here and if ever I find him I will report him. (I vowed never to send again to Columbia)

In another swap with h****** I never got his coins. He agreed to post at same time as me. Later after I posted - and even one month later he kept saying he has not got my coins, and only after getting my coins he will post his. This was against the deal and general rule here in this site. However after lot of mails he said he has posted his coins even though he did not receive mine. I have not got his even after 2 months. He does not reply also. I am not sure if this is an issue I should report. It could be genuine issue for posts from South America.

In another swap with j***** from Venezuela, he has posted with registered mail and sent me the tracking number also, but I never received the coins even after 2 months. He however is a very nice person and he has already confirmed receiving my coins and promised to post another set of coins if I still don't receive his in a week's time. There are such good people also.

Well, it depends on the country... Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela have very bad postal services... and they don't work with T&T International System...
But that doesn't happen with Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay or Peru... ^^
I as a Colombian would not trade with them for various reasons. The main one is just because how most of them are. Don't get me wrong I like my country but the way that most are brought up are not the best morally. They are used to always getting the best cut and not giving back in return. I also won't prejudice cause out there there are very good traders and business people bit good reviews and time as experience could be taken into account :) cheers and happy trading
I have completed swaps with Numista members in Venezuela and Colombia and I can confirm that the postal service in that part of the world is very slow!

However, the members that I swapped with were friendly and honest with excellent communication and the coins I received were beautiful.

I would not rule out swapping with Central or South America but you do have to be very patient. One of the members sent his coins by registered mail and they still took about 5 to 6 weeks to arrive!
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

Hello,

I find that no matter where you are in south america it is still very slow compared to sending it to europe.

I have swapped with Brazil and it was OK. Argentina - sorry never got my coins so far. Chile is slow but you will get it. I have done a couple of swaps. But not sure about Central American countries of North African countries also.

My swaps are very fast with Europe, USA and Canada. Also can rest assured with these people that you will not be cheated 98% of time. For others you are always in doubt and I feel they also have many honest people and good folks.

I've sent to Tunísia, twice, and Egypt, once. All of them were a bit slow but all arrived safely.
I cannot speak about posting to South/Central America but I have had a swap in Romania for a month now and he states he hasn't received my swap and I can thoroughly attest to the fact that I haven't received his.  Could it be that people are going through the mail and pocketing all manner of currency?
I did swap with collectors from all continents before and so far I did complete all my swaps.
Okay, I do agree that some countries as the Philippines or Brazil can take some extra time, but that has never been an issue to me.

Till Swaps,  B)
Cents are money too!
I traded with Argentina and Brazil quite frequently, and everything was fine every time. The only 'lost in mail' I ever got was in France ... :°
Aboout a month or two ago, Argentina > < UK was a swap made ...
I posted (ordinary airmail) in UK on 9 June and received in Argentina on 17 July = 38 days
Postmarked Argentina 23 July (sent Signed For service) and received in UK on 30 August = 38 days
Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
For the swaps I am talking about it is more than 2 months now and still have not received any coins- one from Argentina and one from Chile. I believe the swapper is not a cheat. But I strongly believe the some of the postal people are stealing coins some times. Also it could be stuck in customs some times if they suspect why post is so heavy; could be either of these.
