2022 Coincard Gendarmerie Corps

The Gendarmerie is a military-status police force founded in 1842 to meet the needs of security and public order in San Marino during a time when the ancient Republic coexisted with the Risorgimento uprisings in neighboring territories, marked by revolts, rebellion, and brigandage.

For over 180 years, the Gendarmerie Corps has demonstrated a consistent and growing commitment to combating crime, protecting democratic institutions, safeguarding fundamental freedoms, promoting the common good, and defending the territory of the Republic of San Marino.
